Addition Review Game

So this week has actually been really good! My kids have been on target with behavior, and we are getting a lot accomplished!! Halloween tonight...we will see how tomorrow goes!!

Next week we are going to be doing some review of everything from first quarter math! I think I am basically going to be doing a math workshop kind of thing so I can work with students who may need some extra support, and so we can do an extension activity using computers. With our school being SOO blessed with technology (*cough cough*) I have two computers in my class so I am going to pull two students at a time to do a PowerPoint multiplication/division story book!

I came up with a game for an addition review on Monday. It's called Roll-an-Equation.

I'm going to teach my kids this game to add it to my math games. It's pretty simple, and its just something else to help make addition a little more fun. It is differentiated for below grade level, on grade level, and above grade level.

Go to my TPT store to pick up your own copy: Roll-an-Equation.

I hope you enjoyed your Halloween night!! I surely learned a lot, as it was my first Halloween passing out candy!! It was fun, though!

2 more days....keep on truckin!!

First Year Bliss Linky Party

So I am linking up with The 3 AM Teacher for the First Year Bliss Linky Party!!

Technically.....I haven't been blogging for a year.  Its actually only been about 2 months......

BUUTTTTT....I still wanted to link up to share my favorite memory from my short time of blogging.

I would have to say that my favorite memory from blogging was when I got my FIRST follower!! Since its been a short time, I only have 5 (in other words.....FOLLOW ME!!! PLEASE!!!)!! The Schroeder Page was my first follower, and I was SO excited to see that someone was actually following my page.  I know people from Facebook get on and read my stories, but when I saw another blogger following, it made me excited!!

One other exciting memory was when I linked up for my first Linky party!  Doing that helped me get up to 5 followers, which was very exciting, too!!!

Hopefully I can continue to add on to my followers! I see all these bloggers who have just added and added followers to their page, and I hope to be one of those people in the future!!

If you are interested in Linking up or reading some fantastic blogs, head on over to The 3 AM Teacher and link up/read!!!

Happy Hump Day tomorrow!!! :)

Multiplication Monster Product!

As I was laying in bed last night....snuggled up nice and warm...an idea popped in my head for a multiplication activity!! I had the urge to get up and start working on it right then. However, I fought that urge and went on to fall asleep and sleep WONDERFULLY!!

For....oh...9 hours!!

Until 10:30 am!!

It was fantastic!! Anyways...I started working on my product as I watched the Panthers get taken over by the Cowboys! I mean really?? I would like to be able to pull for a winning team for once!!! That was pathetic!!!

Anywho....again.....I created a multiplication monster glyph for my third graders to create! I've seen many awesome glyphs, but I wanted to make one that my third graders could make and have it incorporate our curriculum! Why can't thid graders make something fun and cute???

So...here it is! My Multiplication Monster Glyph!!

Go check it out, and feel free to leave feedback on what you think!! Any feedback is welcomed to help me make my products better for you!!

Its the Stinkin Weekend.....

Thank God!!! I am ready for a restful weekend with NO school work!! This is the weekend (calm) before the storm (AKA parent conferences and report cards!!!!).

We start conferences on Monday, and I have one every afternoon except Wednesday and Friday!! This school year is definitely testing my time management!! I'm trying really hard to not stress out, and I'm doing pretty well with it so far!

I'll check back on Friday and we will see if this is still true......

So we got our Flat Stanley from South Korea this week!! They really made mine look terrible! It is the coolest thing! Her name is Flat Min Hee! She came with her passport, her journey journal, and her plane ticket! My kids were excited! I have been choosing well behaved students to carry her outside at recess and "show her around the school." I said, "Take her on the slide! Take her on the swings! Take her on the monkey bars! But DO NOT DROP HER!!!!"

I will get pictures of her to share soon! We are going to keep a journal of her adventures to send back to South Korea, so I will share some of those entries, too! This week in class we read "Goodbye, 382 Shin Dang Dong." It was cool to integrate Korea with our learning. I'm trying to put in that cultural awareness as much as possible! My students seem to enjoy it!

And.....enter my weekend!!! Have a great, stress free, no school work weekend! I definitely will be!

Multiplication Mini Unit!

I have been super busy at school....which has caused my blog to suffer!  :( But I'm back in action, and have a mini unit to share that I made.

First of all....whoever came up with Teachers Pay Teachers is a genius!!  It is so cool having people buy my stuff and know it is being used throughout the country...and the extra cash isn't bad either!!

Secondly...my team had a discussion the other day about when to introduce 2 by 1 digit multiplication.  My opinion was to go ahead and introduce it after doing basic multiplication for a couple of weeks, whereas others felt that would confuse the kids and we should save it for later.  I know the idea of having your students memorize their facts is a big deal, but my opinion is that as long as they can figure out the answer in some way, I don't care if they have them memorized just yet.  Most of my students last year left third grade without having their facts completely memorized, and they did fine! 2 by 1 digit multiplication can be solved the same way as basic multiplication (repeated addition, pictures, arrays), but then other strategies can be introduced, too (Go up Go over, window pane, etc.).  Just my opinion.  I guess it really depends on the students you have.

Anywho...I am going to be introducing 2 by 1 digit multiplication this week and to do that, I have created a mini unit using pumpkins.  When you buy a pumpkin and it is $6 per pound, you are doing multiplication.  I wanted to do something that incorporated word problems and everyday life so students could relate.  Included in the unit is 2 by 1 digit multiplication, arrays, and word problems.  There is also a list of extension activities to do if you wanted to go longer with the unit!

Click on the link below to check out my unit! If you purchase it, please feel free to pin it and to leave feedback for extra TPT bonus credits!! I hope you enjoy!!

Teachers Pay Teachers

Has anyone had any issues with Teachers Pay Teachers lately?  I have had 2 people email me saying that they went to download one of their purchases from my store, but they either had issues with the document showing up or with it printing.  I go on and download it myself, and it works fine.  I don't want people to get turned away from my store because of issues.  Right now I have everything opened as free because I want to try and figure out what is wrong with my stuff.  I have had other people download it, but never ask any questions about it or express any concerns.

Let me know if you have had similar issues lately! If you get a chance, go to my store and see if you can download my products (they are listed as free, so why not??!!) Any help or suggestions would be great!!

Thanks!

Currently....My FIRST!!!!

I am doing my FIRST CURRENTLY and linking up with Oh Boy Fourth Grade for this October Currently!

Listening: Braves have made the wild card game for Major League Baseball....and talk about a TERRIBLE game!! Horrible calls, crowd throwing trash (classy) and my hubs yelling at the TV!! Last inning.....last chance....here goes nothing!!!

Loving: I have been trying hard to stay active and keep my dogs active, so I always feel better when I go for a run...even if it is a short one with some walking! :)

Thinking: I am having a 31 party tomorrow and am kind of excited! Want to order, let me know!!

Wanting: I cut my hair in a short bob about a year and a half ago...and I'm officially tired of it!! I'm trying to grow it out so I can pull it back in a ponytail!

Needing: My school system is SO kind in that it took away a lot of our teacher workdays! We don't have one until the end of October...and that is actually a conference day, therefore nothing will get done! We haven't had one since school started...so I'm swamped with all kinds of work!

Book: The Pumpkin Book by Gail Gibbons! My cooperating teacher introduced me to Gail Gibbons 4 years ago, and I love her books!! It's a great book for autumn and science!!

Woohoo!!! That was fun!! On another note.......Braves are probably about to lose.....listen for my husband!! You might hear him!!! :)

Go Chipper Jones! It has been a great season for you!!!
